There are a number of unique challenges and opportunities that creatives face when practicing design in a corporate environment. AIGA DFW has partnered with The Creative Group to create “INitiative,” a year-long series of events aimed to help in-house designers make a greater impact within their companies, evolve professionally and connect with a broader network of peers.
Join AIGA DFW for INitiative Part 1, on August 20th for an insightful discussion about what it takes to thrive in-house. Featuring creatives from DART, Funimation, Fossil and Cooper Aerobics. Our panelists will discuss their own professional journeys and impart lessons they’ve learned from designing in an in-house environment.
Tammy Schriewer is an Art Director in the global design division of Mary Kay, specializing in packaging. While her focus is on driving key color trends and the fine fragrance category, her true passion is typography. With a love for all things bespoke, she tries to find ways to weave her calligraphic, hand-lettering into any project that makes sense. Before making the leap to in-house, her client list included American Heart Association, Genesis Realty Group, Hanson, Landstar Homes, McCormick Distilling, Payne Law Group, and Sportsmith, with awards in Communication Arts and Print Magazine.
Joshua Ege is an Art Director for the e-commerce design team at Fossil. Over a 12 year career his work has appeared in several design shows, magazines and books including Print Magazine, How Magazine, Communications Arts, DSVC Professional Show, Logo Lounge and Designing for the Greater Good to name a few. Josh recently completed his Master of Fine Arts from Texas A&M University-Commerce where he teaches junior and senior level design classes. In his spare time, he enjoys serving on the Board of Directors of the Dallas Society of Visual Communications (President 2009-2010) and considers himself a root beer aficionado.
Jason Puckett is the Art Director for Cooper Aerobics in North Dallas. He acts as the creative lead on projects to support corporate and divisional marketing objectives, including concepting, designing and producing print and online collateral. He worked as an Art Director at MasonBaronet in Dallas after finishing design school at the prestigious Portfolio Center in Atlanta, Georgia in 2006. He currently lives in Hurst with his wife of 8 years and 2 young children.
Antimere Robinson is the Director of Creative Services at FUNimation Entertainment, one of the nation’s leading independent home video entertainment companies. FUNimation is a full service brand management company with in-house production, creative services, marketing, public relations, licensing, internet, home video, and toy divisions. Antimere joined the company 10 years ago as a DVD menu designer when the company was a mere 30 employees and owned five brands. He now leads a team of 25 employees across 4 departments: Art, Copy, Promotional Video, and Web.
Lyle Miller began his career as an illustrator working for text and trade book publishers in the southwest and New York/Boston area. He moved to Dallas in early 80s and began Flying Colors Studio with art director wife Edie, handling design, illustration, and photography and design for clients. Lyle specialized in publications, turn-key from design to print production. He began managing in-house creative departments in the mid 90’s, and has worked with Travelhost, Tracy Locke, Lyrick Studios, Ryan Partnership, and currently manages Dallas Area Rapid Transit’s (DART) in-house Creative Services team.
