AIGA 100 Celebration + Chair Competition

In 2014, AIGA turns 100! Established in 1914 as an institute dedicated to the graphic arts, AIGA’s focus and reach have continually expanded. From 40 founders to 24,000 members and from a New York club to a nationwide network, what began as the old guard of a new profession has become a rich and active community embracing diverse and rapidly changing expressions of design.

AIGA is planning a yearlong series of celebrations for the upcoming centennial year. This December, we begin with a competition for AIGA DFW’s best Windsor chair design! We asked lead creative agencies and designers to participate in designing a chair for our chapter, and are asking you to vote for your favorite design! The winning design will be displayed in New York during the National Centennial Day Celebration on January 21st, 2014.

The competition will run from Dec. 9th through the 15th at 10pm, so make sure to “Like” the chair design you prefer most and spread the word to your friends, colleagues and family members to do the same!

The history behind the chair comes from when AIGA was founded, members were required to buy their own Windsor chairs to participate in meetings and events. Inspired by this historical detail and the powerful resonance of the chair as an object of design, all chapters will customize 67 Real Good chairs (donated by Blu Dot) representing the vibrancy of our nationwide network.
